Echoes of Aincrad Wiki - Two-Handed Axe Guide
Wide area pressure and group control for players comfortable with slow, committed swings.
Tempo: Slow area pressureSlow area-of-effect weapon that hits very hard and extends attacks through chaining.
Wide arcs for clustered enemies and group control.
- Chain Seeker
- Whirlwind
Best For
- Group control
- Area damage
- Route clearing
- Players who plan positioning
Risk Notes
- Long recovery windows can be punished by bosses or ranged enemies.
- No shield makes bad positioning expensive.
- Works best when enemies are grouped before committing.
No shield. Recovery windows are long, so partner support and route knowledge matter.
Two-Handed Axe is the area breaker route. It is slower and more exposed than shield weapons, but its wide swings can make clustered enemies easier to control.
Role
Area pressure with heavy commitment. The Axe is best when each swing clears space, interrupts a group, or hits multiple enemies. It is weaker when used as a one-target panic weapon.
Combat loop
Position before swinging. Let enemies group, use the wide arc to create space, then move before recovery gets punished. In boss fights, wait for obvious windows instead of trying to force trades.
Partner fit
Free Mode helps group clears when the route is under control. Switch Mode helps when a boss turns on you mid-recovery. Healing support is useful on long routes where repeated small mistakes can drain supplies.
Use it when
- You want area pressure against clustered enemies.
- You can plan positioning before attacking.
- You are comfortable playing without shield access.
